Psychiatry Residency Program Director – Your Life’s Work in Gainesville, Georgia

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking the nation's brightest and most innovative Psychiatry physicians to help us deliver the highest level of education to our Psychiatry residents. NGMC Program Overview:

·      Program started in 2022.

·      Fully accredited with Continued Accreditation (2/9/24) and no outstanding citations

·      Accredited for six (6) residents per year. Filled in NRMP Match in each of the first three classes. Fourth class will match in March 2025 to start in July 2025.

·      Employed core faculty members already in place including an Associate Program Director and PhD Psychologist. Faculty specialties include: general psychiatry, child & adolescent, geriatrics, addiction, CL, inpatient, and emergency psychiatry.

·      Outpatient general and subspecialty clinics.

·      Consult Liaison and emergency psychiatry in-house.

·      Laurelwood – 54 bed Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital

·      Hospital staffed 24/7 with Hospitalists and Intensivists

·      GME Infrastructure is a centralized model that includes dedicated Directors for Educational Support and Well-being, Finance, Faculty Development, Research & Quality Improvement and Simulation.

Program Director Responsibilities will include:

·      Participate in the supervision of residents by teaching faculty with defined profession of resident responsibility.

·      Administering and maintaining an educational environment conducive to educating the residents in each of the ACGME competency areas.

·      Overseeing and ensuring the quality of didactic and clinical education in all sites.

·      Familiarity with and comply with ACGME training and reporting requirements.

·      Participate in academic societies and in educational programs designed to enhance educational and administrative skills.

·      Provide general consultation in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

·      .5 Academic and .5 Clinical.

 

Graduate Medical Education Programs at Northeast Georgia Medical Center

Northeast Georgia Medical Center received accreditation as a sponsoring institution in April 2017 and received initial accreditation for its first two program in early 2018. Our programs include internal medicine, general surgery family medicine, emergency medicine, psychiatry, and a transitional year. We also have fellowship programs in cardiovascular medicine, hospice & Palliative medicine, and pulmonary/critical care medicine. We have ore than 200 residents and fellows currently training on the Gainesville and Braselton campuses of the health system.

The Office of Medical Education provides support to the GME programs with resources including a full time Designated Institutional Official and full time Administrative Executive Director of Medical Education who oversee accreditation and operational needs for the sponsoring institution, residency and fellowship programs, and medical student rotations. The GME office also supports residency education with a PhD level Director of Research and Quality Improvement, Director of Educational Support & Well-being, PhD level Director of Faculty Development and Outcomes, Director of finance Operations and a Director of Simulation and Clinical Skills. The department oversees the hospital-wide programs for Simulation, CME, and Library services, as well as the clinical research department.

Do you have what it takes?

·      MD or DO

·      Board Certified in Psychiatry.

·      Ability to obtain an active medical license in the State of Georgia.

·      Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an active faculty member in an ACGME accredited Psychiatry residency program and 3 years’ clinical experience.

·      Demonstrate scholarly activity.
