The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the University of
Illinois College of Medicine Peoria seeks a child and adolescent psychiatrist
with strong interest in graduate medical education and desire to assist in
leading our effort to develop a new child and adolescent psychiatry (CAP)
fellowship. This CAP Fellowship Director is a full-time faculty position at the
rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
Our department has worked closely with our partner hospitals to prepare for the
development of a new CAP training program. The broad array of resources,
exceptional facilities, and collaborative commitment from the community provide
an ideal opportunity for a motivated psychiatrist to lead and grow the program.
The success of the general psychiatry program and the experience of the current
faculty offer ample support to the incoming CAP Director as the new
program evolves. Candidates should share our values for high-quality patient
care, the education of fellows, residents and medical students and the
promotion of scholarly activity. The ideal candidate will have meaningful
administrative experience, excellent teaching and communication skills, and be
eager to lead. Competitive salary and benefits are commensurate with rank.
The responsibilities of the position include the development of the fellowship,
accountability for the operation for the program, promoting a culture of
excellence, faculty and fellow recruitment, innovation in teaching, and
evaluation. Other duties will be tailored to the interest of the applicant and
include opportunities in adult and child inpatient and outpatient clinical
care, community outreach, college student mental health, scholarship and
classroom teaching. The department values and supports the growth, development,
and professional advancement of its faculty members.
Peoria presents an attractive mix of small-town charm and big city offerings.
Our large, supportive medical community is embedded in diverse local
neighborhoods featuring low cost-of-living, excellent schools, and a variety of
leisure and recreational activities. Peoria is the #1 “best place to live” in
Illinois and is a Top 50 Best Cities in the United States, according to US News
and World Report (2022). Niche gave Peoria an “A” rating for overall diversity.
Minimum requirements include graduation from an ACGME-approved child and
adolescent psychiatry fellowship, licensed or license-eligible in the state of
Illinois, and ABPN board-certification in adult and child and adolescent
psychiatry.
